A TOPICAL MESSAGE ON HEALTH, SAFETY AT WORK AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Born in Carpi on 4 October 1633, Bernardino Ramazzini graduated in Medicine from the University of Parma in 1659. In 1682, Duke Francesco II d’Este offered him the chair of medicine at the University of Modena. In 1700, he published De Morbis Artificum Diatriba, the world’s first treatise on occupational medicine, and the University of Padua offered him the second chair of theoretical medicine where Ramazzini continued to expand his work until his death in 1714.
The master’s teachings are a valuable starting point to address the current situation of work-related illnesses and accidents and the future challenges of the general environment.
