Service Centre of the Policlinico di Modena – Room CS02

As part of the celebrations for the 850th anniversary of UNIMORE, the Department of Surgery, Medicine, Dentistry and Morphological Sciences and the Association of Professors Emeriti Unimore have promoted an initiative in memory of Professor Emeritus Alberto Giannetti.
The programme of the meeting, open to medical students, dermatology residents, experts in the field and members of the public, includes the Lectio Magistralis on:
Psoriasis and atopic dermatitis: past, present and future held by Giampiero Girolomoni, Full Professor of Dermatology at the University of Verona, followed by speeches by former students, collaborators and colleagues.
This event has profound reasons and meanings, as it cannot be viewed as a simple remembrance, but rather as a moment of celebration and renewal of his great legacy in dermatology, teaching and the community of Modena.

Alberto Giannetti was not simply the Director of the Dermatological Clinic of Modena, which he directed for a quarter of a century (1986-2011): he was a fundamental point of reference for Italian dermatology, a teacher for generations of dermatological specialists who, together with him, brought prestige to the Modenese school of dermatology, creating a recognised excellence, an institution
of which the University and the city are still proud today.
Professor Giannetti led the Clinic towards epochal transformations and under his direction, dermatology in Modena has grown in prestige and innovation, embracing the complexity of the discipline, from clinical to immunology, allergology and oncology, with his acknowledged ability to anticipate the times, laying the foundations for today’s precision dermatology.

“The Professor” was a passionate communicator, capable of conveying not just notions, but a love of discipline and methodological rigour. He was able to create an environment where competence was combined with the friendship of the operators, always considering the patient in his central role.
Remembering him cannot just be a nostalgic glance at the past but a tribute to all the masters who know how to ignite a passion and a duty towards colleagues and alumni, many of them established dermatologists in different parts of the country.
